I recently went to a parish Bible study. A sample of the Parish library was on display and attendee’s were encouraged to check out books to aid in their study. Prominently displayed was a series of Commentary Books authored by a man named “Barclay.” I read the author’s bio and was surprised to see that Barclay was proclaimed a prominent theologian in the “Church of Scotland.” I am puzzled as to why a “Catholic” parish would rely on and promote the Commentary of a Protestant. This does not seem proper. What BIble commentaries are approved for Catholic “consumption?”
