Non-Catholic Breviary

I was wondering if anyone here knew of a good non-Catholic breviary. I was interested in getting one from my dad, who was raised Lutheran, but now identifies as a non-denominational evangelical. I’ve looked at some Anglican breviaries online, but I know my dad wouldn’t care for the Elizabethan English. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a former evangelical Protestant and use the “Benedictine Daily Prayer,” although the book is from a Catholic monastery, it is used by non-Catholics as well.

The book has received good reviews for its wide appeal.

There are several:

1. A Lutheran breviary called FOR ALL THE SAINTS. There are others.
2. There is a 4-fold daily office book publised by Presbyterians, but I can’t think of the name at the minute.
3. A modern English publication by the Episcopal Order of the Holy Cross called A MONASTIC BREVIARY (basically the BPC with enrichments). The Order of St. Helena did a feminist revision called ST. HELENA BREVIARY.

And then there’s always the American 1979 BCP, which has mostly contemporary English services.

Question–why are you getting him a breviary?

My dad enjoys personal Bible studies and devotional writings that are set up on a daily basis. Right now he is using the One Year Bible. We had talked and I told him a good way to get into the Psalms would be to use a psalter, since he’d not only be reading the Psalms but praying as well.
