I am a college student and I am a part of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship I feel like I have grown a lot in my faith because of it and it has helped me to search for answers to the Catholic faith. The group is predominantly nondenominational and I think I am the only Catholic out of about 100. I want to share the beauty of the Eucharist, The Holy Mother, and the Saints, the things about the catholic faith that I love so much. The group goes on a week long trip to study the Gospel of Mark for spring break and I don’t know what I should do. I really like going to the nights and worshiping and praying with other Christians. I was asked once “When are you going to become a Christian” and I said “What do you mean? I am Christian, I’m Catholic.” So I guess my question is, how do I talk to them about the beauty of the Catholic faith and help them to see all that they are missing. And also what do you all think about going to the week bible study? I love The Church founded on Christ and I am saddened for them not knowing it. Any help and or ideas and prayers would be much appreciated. Thanks and God Bless Mike

What you are doing so far is a good ecumenical outreach, as long as they continue to allow you to express your Catholic beliefs. If you feel comfortable go on the bible study trip but be prepared to interject the Catholic view of Mark’s Gospel. Take along a Navre (sp?) Bible of Mark. It has execellent footnotes. What you can also do in preparation, is using a “big” version (tan or green) of the catechism look up in the Scriptural index all the passages of Mark and get a good working knowledge of Catholic teaching rooted in Mark.

I’d be wary going on the trip as you a kinda outnumbered.

Can you take enough money for a quick trip home if you have to bail out ?

Thank you very much! I think that will be great I will begin studying up in the catechism. I just feel that this is a really great opportunity for me. and I will be able to invite them to come to mass with me and explain the mass. I am still praying about it and will see what Gods plans are for me, Thanks for the help and Have a Blessed day, Mike

Stand your ground on Catholicism and do NOT under any circumstances let anyone shake your knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic church.

Does your school have a Newman Center or a Catholic organization for students? The Newman Center of my alma mater is run by the diocese and serves a free lunch to students very Wednesday regardless of their religion. If you have this kind of organization, you might invite some of your Protestant friends to join you at the Catholic center.

Are you thinking of the Navarre Bible commentary?
