Yes, I read that also. His current wife, tho, has quite a few things on her resume that might fall into that particular genre. And of course we should check off the Playboy film that Mr Trump himself is in. Even though he admires Barbara Walters, and of course young blondes, I wouldn’t rely on that to expand across the entire gender. I almost wouldn’t mind his sexist attitudes if he would just keep his opinions to himself. Manners, in my opinion, go a very long way. He appears to have none.
All valid points.

I believe Mr Trump has a long history of calling women - in public - pigs, dogs, slobs, etc. It has nothing to do with ‘porn stars’ or with Democrats.
Just an addendum to Mr Trump and his overall misogynistic views… a headline in the Sunday Times (UK) reads: ‘Trump told club to ‘sack fat, ugly women’’ per a disposition in a lawsuit that he ultimately settled in 2013.

I realize this is not quite on topic, but it certainly speaks to the surreal nature of this election. Having different ideologies is one thing. People who actually support and look up to this unfortunate person is way beyond my understanding.

Alarmed or not?
Not. I’m almost 50 years old and my study of history in conjunction with the experience of my own life shows me that the world is only getting better. Not perfect, of course - still plenty of problems and pain - but undeniably better in ways that matter. I consider the United States a leader in that.

While it has certainly been an unusual election season for us here in the US, at the end of the day, I feel like it will be a blip on the radar. I do wonder if Mr. Trump’s rise to the top of the Republican Party will change the Party forever, perhaps even end it as we know it, but political parties come and go. While it’s interesting to study and understand those comings and goings, it’s not particularly important, imho.

How about Non-Lutheran Opinion of the Current Political and Cultural Direction of the US, wouldn’t you rather hear that?

(No offense LS.)

Honored to be singled out like that, Peter. 😛

Good point, though. What about the points of view of our Reformed, Mennonite, Methodist, Baptist, Nazarene and Friends cousins? :tiphat:

Well there’s that too.

But I’m a non-Mennonite as well as a non-Lutheran, so really my opinion should be more interesting than that of a non-Catholic.

So, what do you reckon is going on in the United States culturally and spiritually? I think that once they took prayer out of schools and started secularizing society, the die was cast for this modern travesty of a United States that we see today. How about you? Or do you reckon our culture’s going along just fine and we should just roll with things as they are?

Okay, you got me: I didn’t really want to opine on Political and Cultural Direction so much as to assert my rights as a non-Lutheran. 😊

Represent, man! 👍 People *should *be proud of their faith, otherwise, why even bother? Heck yeah, Peter!

Wouldn’t they all fall under Non Catholic and therefore their opinion is being asked by the OP?

Good point, sir! :tiphat: It would apply to them too, but thus far, I’ve just seen insights from Anglicans, Lutherans and Catholics about the matter.

Perhaps he meant to say non-Methodists, non-Baptists, etc. (Perhaps you’ve already noticed that Lutherans get a little confused sometimes.)

Alarmed or not?
I am not sure which direction your question is about, since the country is going in two distinct, separate directions (both culturally and politically). There are a few people in the middle but most people have already chosen one direction or the other. If you ask anyone about their opinion on immigration, refugees, taxes, healthcare, you can immediately tell which side they are on.

So most people are alarmed about the side which they are not on.

Someone has already mentioned on this thread that ‘we are getting closer and closer to God’s Judgment’. I personally would go even further, I believe this division into two sides, is the division into ‘goats and sheep’ that Jesus predicted. The interesting thing is that each side thinks that the others are the goats. (The criteria for deciding who are the real goats is given in Matthew 25:31-46)

BTW, please do not mention the names of any politician on this thread - we are not supposed to mention the names of specific politicians outside the news forum. That may get the thread closed.
