There is something bothering me lately. Now I think I know basically the answer, but still I would like a clarification.
In Mass, I have heard petitions about all sorts of things. However, I was wondering, why no prayers for those in sin? Specifically, I was wondering about prayers for those in non-Catholic religions. I never hear a prayer for Christian unity or for the conversion of the Muslims or Jews, Why? Now, I think this may simply be my Parish or Diocese, its kind of what were used to in the past 40 yrs, but am I incorrect? The reason I am asking this is because I am bothered that I never come across any prayers anywhere (especailly at mass) and I never hear the conversion of Non-Catholics talked about anywhere. I am probably one of the younger members on these forums, so I was wondering if anyone who is older or who knows about the past can tell me if it has always been this way or if not, how long has it been this way?

So to summarize-
  1. Does anyone else see what I’m saying about not praying for conversions
  2. Does anyone else have this experience?
  3. Was it always this way, if so why?
  4. If it was not always this way, why did it change and when?
Any responses would be greatly appreciated!!🙂

I think it depends… in the Divine Mercy novena, there are prayers for non Christians and non Catholics… also in the Good Friday liturgy at my FSSP parish, where they do the Latin Mass, there were prayers for conversions.

My parish in the Diocese of Lafeyette-in-Indiana has prayers for Christian Unity every Sunday. There are also prayers every Sunday for the conversion of pro-abortion politicians.
