@Anicette @TheLittleLady @1ke Thank you all for explaining, I got the difference šŸ™‚ I was mainly a bit confused because I never heard from the failure of the pill regarding the ovulation prevention. I remeber a talk with a gyn where she stated that in the small possibility of an ovulation (never heard of 20 % or something like above) the prenancy wouldnĀ“t be damaged by the pill. DonĀ“t know if the type of pill is important here, I had to try it once for health reasons long before my marriage, so I didnĀ“t gave the pregnancy on the pill cenario much thought.
To the language thing: DonĀ“t really know what I misunderstood, sorry. In german, conception is in popular language often used for ā€œbecoming pregnantā€ without meaning precisely the original meaning of conception or implantation. But generally IĀ“m aware of the difference šŸ™‚ IĀ“m on heavy painkillers atm and seem to be a bit …confused. Of course IĀ“m aware that life doesnĀ“t start only after implantation. Sorry for being strange to understand 😃

You’re welcome!
Thanks for the German perspective!

Your Gynecologist was right in medical perspective, when she says, that the pill would’nt damage the pregnancy. Because if a damage can be done, it will be before, so before the implantation.

What you have been told is incredibly common…

But it is not completely honest to doctors etc to not tell the truth entirely, or think that before implantation, there is nothing, so the population and users don’t derserve to known. Or that is just a fondamentalist preoccupation, so it is even needed to fight against.

For the type and the pill and the link with possible breakthrough ovulation, it exceeds my knowledge, and the rules of the forum on medical advise.

Simply put : it seems that the newer the pill is, the more she is likely not to prevent ovulation completely. Pill of the 1960’s and early 1970’s had higher doses and nowdays almost all are not sold anymore.

You can see the conclusions that randy Alcorn had done on the subject here:

He is a protestant minister how had done extensive scientistic research on the problematic _does the pill cause abortion?_The target audience is Christians or pro-life people who do not believe that pill can damage an unborn child, or people who are already convinced who want more scientistic based-evidence.

The rate of breakthrough ovulation and possible fecondation is very uncertain, difficult to known, and we lack of studies, but this book try to offer some answers and extrapolations. (maybe between 2 and 10 or more breakthrough ovulation). But we have to be very carefull with thoses statistics.

This book offers a answer on the language changes : in US it is since 1976 the American College of Obsterticians and Gynecologists that the term" contraception now means anything that prevent implantation of the blastocyst" (p16).

Others terms that the books used:
Fertlized egg ( between the fertlization and implantatation). New terminology that is confusing,
blastocyst and others…
