No one has to hold hands during the Our Father. That’s a leftover. I have never held hands during the Lord’s Prayer and no one has ever tried to force me to do so.
Actually, we are not even suppose to be holding hands. That is an American tradition which the bishops have been slow in putting a stop to. The correct posture is either the orans position or hands folded. Holding hands has never been prescribed by the Church.

I grew up in the episcopal church so I did not have any pre-conceived ideas. I was surprised that they stand in line and do not kneel at the altar rail which I do miss but I guess they don’t have time. It is less reverent. I did not know about transubstantation. But I do believe in the Real Presence.

Of course, our music is vastly superior, but that’s not the point. 😃

👍

I’ve attended several different churches (Baptist, Presbyterian, etc.), and the music at the Lutheran church I now attend is the best I’ve seen so far. Almost every service starts with a prelude by J.S. Bach. 🙂

What is the holding hands part about?
During the “Our Father” as lot of Catholic parishes have picked up the habit of holding hands with each other - I’m sort of a curmudgeon, so it seems a bit awkward to me, especially when the prayer is so close to the sacrament.

I understand the community aspect of it… but… ugh. :o
