Non-Catholics: Why do you WANT to receive the Eucharist?

And then, you have visitors coming… and to me, it weakens what we have.

I don’t understand this at all: why in the world would it “weaken” what you have? Isn’t it about Christ? Or is it about a “Catholic’s Only” club?

I think the Catholic Church should probably say in the missal, “Non-Catholics are heretics in the eyes of the Church, and cannot participate in the Eucharist.” That’s basically the truth, anyway.

Why don’t you become Orthodox? They have the True Body and Blood. They also say that the Catholic Church does not - they just think they do. If they have the True Body and Blood, why don’t you accept the rest of what they say?

That is the heart of their understanding, and by your logic any other considerations are unimportant by comparison.

I really don’t know much about Orthodox, other than our Sacraments are valid in yours and yours in ours. At least: that’s the rumor I’ve heard

When I speak of non-Catholics, I am NOT including Orthodox in that. Because, as far as I am concerned (a lay person who has never been in an Orthodox church, and know no one who is Orthodox who has wanted to come to a RC Mass) it doesn’t matter

I am speaking of Western churches, who are Protestant.

To talk about Orthodox… not to be flippant, but you are talking Greek to me!

The Catholic Church says Orthodox Sacraments are valid.

The Orthodox say that that Catholic sacraments, including the Eucharist, are not valid. In fact, they say that the Catholic Church is schismatic, just like the Protestants, and not part of the True Church.

So your argument says a Protestant who believes the Catholic Church really has the Real Presence ought to become Catholic and also believe the other doctrines of the Catholic Church, including I expect the one that say that Protestants are schismatics and not part of the Church.

The same logic however would also say that a Catholic who believes the Orthodox have the Real Presence should become Orthodox and accept other Orthodox beliefs, including the belief that Catholics are schismatics and not part of the Church.
