It seems to me that when it comes to the subject of eschatology most of today’s Catholic authors start with what Protestants believe and then explain why Catholics should not believe in that. I wanted to find something that is orthodox and primarily about what things a Catholic can believe about it. So I recently found a well-written book on the subject that starts with what beliefs are acceptable for Catholics and only has minimal references to Protestantism. The book is called, “Eschatology; Or, The Catholic Doctrine of the Last Things, a Dogmatic Treatise” by Arthur Preuss (Adapter), Rev. Joseph Pohle Ph.D. (Author), and Paul A. Boer Sr. (Editor).

It’s available for free online viewing (here) and (here). I was also able to find a good deal online for purchasing the book.

I have all 12 of the books on dogma…all very good classic Catholic theology…and your point is a good one…sometimes I think there should be more of an emphasis on solid catechesis rather than apologetics…it’s hard to defend what we haven’t learned.

Peace and all good!
