I used to live in Oz and still take an interest in what is occurring there.
On the weekend a leader of a small political party (Nick Xenophon) got thrashed in a State Election. He is now jobless.
Twelve months ago, this guy was possibly the most respected politician in Australia. I certainly respected him and thought he would make a great Prime Minister for Australia.
The truth is he got too big for his boots. He thought he could dominate South Australia and he failed miserably.
I still have a tendency to put people on pedestals. (perhaps I think there is a political messiah hiding somewhere). But I have to say, to see this guy crash and burn was disappointing. None of us have all the answers. None of us make perfect leaders. We can all look like idiots at least once in our life.

I once ordered a Corporal named Trotsky to “go burn the latrine” as a disciplinary action for minor misconduct. That entailed removing the latrine canisters, burning the canister contents, and replacing the canisters. I came back 30 minute later to find the entire latrine actually engulfed in flames with Trotsky standing by enjoying a smoke. To this day, I’m still not sure who the idiot was. Me for giving him the order worded that way or him for following it to the letter.
