Not allowed to attend church services

=ppcbill;7281604]A question came up during a conversation today about a Pastor not allowing a person to attend chuch services.
It seems a visiting person talked to a Pastor after hearing the sermon about some theological differences and told the Pastor his theology was incorrect and asked him to change his sermons. The Pastor subsequntly banned the person from attending services at this denomination.
Now I can see that there are theological differences within the Protestant community however I can not see an outright ban from the particular church. One of the conversationalist who is very biblically versed said that there is a biblical precident for this.
I had never heard of anything like this.Can anyone point to any verse that would support the Pastor banning aperson from attending church services?

I SUSPECT? that you have a few points here that need further clairification.

Point 1: As we SADLY know from recent experience “Priest too are human and like everyone else” prone to sin**.[1 John 1:8-10] **Despite the many additional graces OFFERED to them by God, [but not necessarly accepted].

Point 2: I suspect that what the priest said [WAY OUT OF LINE!] is something to the efect of “if you don’t like my preaching and teaching find another parish!” THIS PRIEST is in GRAVE MORAL DANGER! Let us pray for him! A Priest cannoy forbid one from fulfilling ones GRAVE Moral obligation of attending Mass. The first THREE Commandents come into play here.

Point 3. The Catholic community of churches remains “ONE!”

**Acts.20:28 **“Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church [SINGULAR] of God which he obtained with the blood of his own Son. “

Eph. 4: 4 -8 “There is one body Only One Church] and one Spirit, [Only One set of beliefs] just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, Only One God] one faith, Only One set of doctrine and dogma] one baptism, By water in the Trinity] one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. "

Whoa! Really??? Wow. I don’t see how he could do that. What is so wrong with using Facebook anyway other than the fact that it can be a huge time killer??

The Facebook concern is because of its high popularity and people contacting old flames who would have been relegated to personal history if it wasn’t for the modern lets keep social networks. Thus problems are seen when spouses start fighting over contacting the “ex” through Facebook.

An overreaction? Sure, but the society will reach a medium position eventually.

If people can’t control their desire to contact and ex-boyfriend/girlfriend or ex-wife/husband then they should avoid this near occasion of sin and stay off of Facebook or whatever it is that is tempting them to contact their ex. However, I don’t think that banning a person from church for going on Facebook is appropriate.

In the Catholic Church, we have excommunication which is what is derived from the same Scriptures that your church uses to justify shunning or whatever it is that your church calls this. That said, I believe that shunning or the practice of forbidding a member from attending church services is wrong. How are they supposed to see the error of their ways if they do not hear the Scriptures and preaching?

The ban is being forced on church elders/leadership and he is teaching the church to also refrain. It is on the level of banning all TV because along with the “church approved” programing the SPIKE and LOGO networks are also available.

No, Excommunication isn’t the same thing, as I already said, anathema is the equivalent. Excommunication is being bared from the sacraments, anathema is being cut off from the church in full.
