Not Attending Mass With Aunt

My mom asked me, since she didn’t feel like going to Mass, if I would like to attend with my aunt if she hadn’t gone yet. I said no because I didn’t want to attend with my aunt since it would be uncomfortable and I was in the state of mortal sin so I couldn’t recieve Communion. Was that a mortal sin since I was given the possible oppertunity but declined?

As best as I know yes. Attending mass on Sunday is obligatory, and not attending is a mortal sin (assuming you are aware of your Sunday obligation). Just because you can’t receive communion does not excuse your from your obligation.
 
catholicconvert is right. Even if you are in mortal sin, you MUST go to Mass on Sunday. Being uncomfortable is not a sufficiently grave reason not to attend Mass.

You should not let yourself feel uncomfortable, in the presence of others, about not being able to receive the Eucharist due to mortal sin. Even though your state of sin is nothing to be proud of, abstaining from Eucharist when you are in that state of sin can be a shining example to others (your aunt) about how seriously you take your faith and how much you love and respect Christ in the Eucharist.

Of course, the better thing would have been to go to confession prior to Mass so that you could receive the Sacrament of Penance and receive our Lord in the Eucharist at the Mass.
 
Thank you for the answers, everyone. I guessed that it would be a sin but wanted to know what others said about it. I will hopefully go next time! 🙂
