I’ve confessed to something a number of time. Each time I’ve priest that I’ve ever gone to has told me that the particular thing I was confessing wasn’t a sin. I’ve even received the same advice from practicing catholic friends. However, that sin or action depending on your view continues to eat at me.

Does anyone have any advice on how to accept advice from priest or friends? My mind wont allow me to accept it. I don’t mind going to confession but I dont want to waste trips on going for something that isn’t a sin or that I’m potentially being scrupulous about.

Scruples need sustained counsel over time. Go to your pastor outside of confession and ask him for help with your scruples and compulsion to confess something everyone has told you is not a sin.
