Someone showed me about a book by Phyllis Trible called Texts of Terror: Liberary Feminist Readings of Biblical Narratives (Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1984). I actually don’t see any evidence anymore that innocents were slain by God’s commands anywhere. It could all be interpreted to mean those who had reason and sinned, just being understood that way by the people of God the Jews in those days. Otherwise God could command an abortion.
