Not understanding priest during confession

Went to confession and it was done by a preist that I had a hear time understanding because of broken English my pennance. I asked for him to repeat and he must not have heard me. So I did the part of the pennance I understood and then did some of my own becuase of not knowing what was given. Was the confession valid and complete? I am kinda new so I think I know the answer but thoght I would ask because it kinda bothered me. Thank you.
 
I think your confession was complete. You did everything you COULD - you clearly had the intention to make a full confession and penance, and you did it to the best of your ability.

You asked the priest to repeat what he said - he did not repeat - so you cannot be blamed for not understanding correctly. But you did everything you could understand. I wouldn’t worry about this.

Hello SacredHeart, I wouldn’t worry about it at all. You did your penanace as best you could. As long as the priest pronounced the words of absolution, it’s a valid confession.

Don’t be scrupulous 🙂 . A sincere confession is always a good one. I think what you did for penance was the right thing to do too! 🙂

Its one of the reasons why, when you find a good confessor, hang on to him for dear life.
