When bad things happen to people I get two versions of this:
  1. Even if you were to blame the devil, he can do nothing without God consent.
  2. Nothing bad can not happen to you without God’s consent, or allowed it to happen.
Thus a deadly car accident - God allowed it to happen. He consented to it.
A leader at my church started a rumor against me; my reputation was damaged. A friendship and fellowship between believers was damaged. He said it was a locution from God’s word. So…this can’t be a bad thing because God permitted it to happen.
i call this spiritual abuse. What do you think?

God’s permission of free will doesn’t make all human exercise of free will moral or grant license to act immorally.

This person has free will, they are permitted to do good or bad things, and also to repent.

Forgiveness and healing are there for all.

Everything willed by God is for a greater good to come about.

Not everything that happens is God’s will.

If God wills something, it will happen; but if it happens, God doesn’t always will it.

An evil caused by someone is allowed (not always permitted) by God to bring about some greater good. This leader was not right to start a rumor, nor was he right to justify it in that manner you described. The fact of the matter is good will come about from this.

We may never know what certain goods God desires to bring about from some evil, but it was a bad thing for this leader to spread lies about you to your community. The right thing (to bring about the good) is to forgive this person. This leader definitely needs to repent and ask for your forgiveness.
