Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today, some of us are continuing the 33 Day Preparation for Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, which began yesterday with 12 days of seeking to “empty ourselves of the spirit of the world which is opposed to the Spirit of Jesus” – as St. Louis urges us in his “True Devotion” in paragraph #227. He also mentions that he recommends this in the first part of his book. If you have never read his “True Devotion”, you may want to begin to read it slowly and prayerfully during this Advent and during the New Year continue pondering the Wisdom God gave this saint in writing this beautiful book.

Yesterday I suggested reading (listening) and pondering the First Letter of John and today I suggest you may want to listen and ponder again words from John’s First Letter, chapter 2:verses 15 - 17 to help understand our need to let go of the spirit of the world which may be in us:
Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world.

Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever.
Scripture is always our primary source. St. Louis de Montfort himself read and lived what he heard from God’s Holy Word. It was in writing his book on “Love of Eternal Wisdom” – based on the Book of Wisdom in the Bible, – that St. Louis began to “see” by Supernatural Faith the role of Mary, more clearly, for all.

Come Holy Spirit, fill us as you filled Mary with the Truth Who is Jesus! May we remain in Him as Mary did on earth and as she does now in heaven. Jesus we trust in You! Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!

Dear Inbonum, GioG12 and Xarto,

Thank you all for your “hearts” and I hope they signify not only that you like what was shared in this post today, but they also signify you have begun the journey and will continue to prepare for either a renewal of your Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, as St. Louis de Montfort presents it in his treatise on “True Devotion” or are beginning this 33 day preparation for the first time.

In either case it is a blessing to me to see your hearts! I have made this journey many times and each time has been a unique blessing for me. I hope you will continue and find that it is a blessing for yourselves this Advent.

I mentioned to Inbonum that my purpose in writing about “True Devotion” is to make Mary better known and loved – thus making Jesus better known and loved through her. It became a major part of my work as a Member of the Legion of Mary. The Legion was founded on the inspiration Irish Layman Frank Duff received in reading and hearing by God’s Grace the Truth written by St. Louis de Montfort on Mary’s role in our lives.

When I saw on your profile page that you were Irish in formation as a Secular Franciscan, I wondered Xacto if you were familiar with Servant of God, Frank Duff, who founded the Legion of Mary in Dublin on Sept. 7, 1921. He was encouraged to read St. Louis de Montfort’s “True Devotion” by a friend and he did – but was not really impressed by it. His friend kept encouraging him to read it again! Finally he received the grace from the Lord, after reading it several times, to say: “This is True”. He explains how it came about in an article on the website of the Legion of Mary. If anyone is interested, the article can be read HERE

Again, thanks to all three of you for your hearts!

St. Maximilian Kolbe to Mary Immaculate:

If you abandon me, I will fall into hell and maybe even drag others with me. There is no sin to which I could not submit. There is no crime that I could not commit. But if you lend me a hand, I will win the whole world over for you and become a saint — a great saint.

Dear hazcompat,

Thanks so much for this beautiful quote from St. Maximilian Kolbe. It is a prayer any one of us might pray, yet we know, as St. Maximilian knew – our Mother would not abandon any child who came to her humbly asking for her help. Let us continue to strive to love her more and in so doing love and honor Jesus more!

Hopefully you’ll be with us on our journey to the end!

I started my 33 day preparation for renewal today!

God bless you 🙏

Dear Inbonum,

Thanks so much for joining us, on this beautiful journey toward Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. It has been one of the most significant graces in my life to have made this Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, as a teenager. As I am now approaching my 84th birthday, I cannot tell you how grateful I am to the nun who introduced us to St. Louis de Montfort’s “True Devotion” and invited us to pray the Act of Total Consecration, which a small group of us who were members of the Junior Legion of Mary did as sophomores in High School.

Please let us continue to pray for one another, for the Church and for all those in need of God’s Mercy, through Mary.
