as I recall, in our kids’ school February was Black History Month, but perhaps that has changed. Here in Texas we celebrate Juneteenth, Emancipation Proclamation day, I think it is, would like to learn more about it. As regards to the historical considerations vis a vis chattel slavery and immigrants, an interesting book is* How the Irish Became White* by Noel Ignatiev.
