I did the novena to infant jesus from 17-25 for my marriage. There was the feeling in my heart that if it were not be fulfilled, Jesus would interrupt the novena. I had teh habit of lighting 9 candles at the end of the novena. On the last day of the novena, i just felt led as in a trance to first light the candles and then say the novena. As i was lighting the candles the phone rang.
Would you take that as a sign that the novena was broken?

some reason you could not have gone back to your prayer after the phone call? attitude of both posters sounds much closer to superstition than to genuine prayer, but that is my subjective opinion. the novena is broken? what the heck does that mean? a novena is a prayer you say for 9 days for a particular intention. there is no magic assigned to the time of day or the number of candles, it’s a prayer, not an incantation.

oh no… i was just lighting the candles when the call came. so after the call i started the novenas and completed it.

I had not started the novena yet. I had just let Jesus know that if the answer to my prayer is yes, please interrupt the novena but the candle lighting was interrupted which has me confused.

I had just let Jesus know that if the answer to my prayer is yes, please interrupt the novena
Pardon me, but it is a strange request to Jesus to interrupt your prayer. Let me ask you this. What if the interruption did not come from God but from the Satan? After all, Satan is the one who does want to interrupt your prayer, isn’t it?

I’d suggest that when you pray, don’t ask for such sign. Just pray wholeheartedly, if the answer comes, God will let you know eventually. Many times, He lets you know not by signs, but by knowledge so that you realize that your prayer has been answered. Many times, your request does not get answered right away, sometimes years.

God bless and keep praying unceasingly.

From my experience, Jesus answers my prayer slowly, a little bit at a time, like a little bird’s foot steps. Almost imperceptible but it feels right.
I don’t think I have ever see a sign from him as an answer to my question.
Like other posters said, only Satan would interupt your devotion to Jesus and Mary.

Keep on praying :)👍

if God wants to send you a sign, he will send a sign of his own choosing, and it won’t be at your dictation. God speaks ordinarily through scripture and the teaching office of the Church, and most of the time for most of us, that is all the answer we need to our prayers.
