A few weeks ago the woman I’ve been in a serious relationship with noted she felt, despite being in love with me and feeling our connection is special, that our paths in the future seem too divergent for our relationship to work and indicated she wanted to break up. I don’t feel the same way and I moved for a two-week no-contact break from the relationship so we could think of things from the outside. We are scheduled to discuss our feelings and plans tonight. I’m hoping she decides to stick things out with me and keep trying, as I feel the relationship is too special to abandon. I came across the story of St. Dwynwen recently and am in the midst of a 9-hour Novena to her asking that my girlfriend reconsider and give our relationship another shot. This prayer has given me an extra bit of comfort, and I hope sharing it will help others in similar situations. I’ve copied the Novena below.
Novena To St. Dwynwen:
Oh Blessed Saint Dwynwen, you who knew pain and peace, division and reconciliation. You have promised to aid lovers and you watch over those whose hearts have been broken. As you received three boons from an Angel, intercede for me to receive three blessings to obtain my heart’s desire (state request). If that’s not God’s will, I ask for a speedy healing from my pain, and your guidance and assistance that I may find love with the right person at the right time and in the way, With an unshakable faith in the boundless kindness and wisdom of God, this I ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord amen. St. Dwynwen, we beseech thee, comfort lovers whose vision is unclear, send mending to those with love lost, protect companions. In your name we seek to do the same. In your name we choose love first. With the love of you, Mary, and of Jesus Christ, amen.
