Novus Ordo more appealing to women?

I know of at least two couples where the wife is more than willing to attend the EF only because it’s the only way of getting him to go to church at all.

There are many women, like me, who absolutely love the EF, but it is my experience that more men prefer the EF. Here in NYC, we’re fortunate to have an EF every day, and I try to go as often as possible. And there are definitely more men at the daily EF than I see at the OF. I find it especially notable that the men who attend the EF are extremely reverent, folding their hands, bowing, answering the responses in Latin. There is one man in particular who I think must be or had been a professional singer, because he always seems to be there for the high Masses, and he sings out boldly whenever he can. I love to hear him. Of the women who attend, they are also especially reverent, the majority of whom wear a mantilla.

My own experience is that when I go to an OF, I have to struggle to stay awake. I pray about it constantly, and do everything I can to be prayerfully involved, but it happens more often than not that I will nod off before I even realize it. I almost never have that problem with the EF.

I think so. The women are the ones that complain about not participating in the Mass. I guess they have a need to talk even at Mass. The men are not as talkative therefore the EF is not much to complain about as far as participating.
Is it wrong that I laughed my butt off at this? 😃

I know a couple instances at my Extraordinary Form (EF) parish of a husband preferring the EF and the wife the Ordinary Form (OF). Why is this?
Fact is every person is unique and may make different choices. Everyone here has shared a personal experience that would lead one to believe one way or another. But fact is, personal experience is hardly valid statistical data if you want the true consensus among all Roman Catholic churchgoers.

For the same reason why those two men whom you know prefer the EF and their wives prefer the OF, there’s probably couples out there where the wife prefers the EF while the husbands prefer the OF.

Me, too! I cannot stop yawning at an OF mass, and am very much more awake at an EF one.

Hi Brooklyn, I’m in NY, too. Where do you go for the TLM? I usually go to Holy Innocents.
