Anyone know when the new “Novus Ordo” Mass will be implemented? The one that is getting overhauled with the new words?

Probably not for awhile. The liberal bishops of the US have to attack it first and try to get it stopped. Then they will eventually give up and allow us to have beautiful translations instead of banal and often inaccurate paraphrases.

James (who apparently is very pessismistic today)

Mt19:26:
Last I heard was that it was 1 or 2 years off.
I’ve heard that too. But then again I also heard that about a year or a year and a half ago.

James

They finished the preliminary translation, but all the modernists and libs are trying to make the language more “pastoral.” You can read the CWNews article on it here.

I heard on of the proposed translations about a year ago. It had a lot of older sounding phrases inserted and went back to using relative clauses (a great improvement) but the effect was rather like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. They need to start from scratch

Probably not for another 50 years from now when I am dead!!. And then I hope to be attending a Heavenly Liturgy with the Holy Saints, Holy Angels, and Holy Archangels.:angel1:

A new Novus Ordo? How did I miss this?

My understandig is that the new translation will be used at World Youth Day in 2008. How or when it will get to us in the US is anyone’s guess.

It’s also very likely that the new translation won’t be implimented until all the propers are translated as well. Currently, just the ordinary of the Mass has been approved by the English speaking bishops.

So we’re talking Advent 2009 if we’re lucky.

Forgive me, I’m a wee bit confused here… :o

Does the “new” Neovus Ordo refer to this?

That’s it. It’s not a “new” Novus Ordo, but a new translation.
