Seriously, though, depending on who you ask, you’ll get a different answer, ranging from making the Mass more “accessible” to the average person; making it more like the Mass of the “early Church;” to making the Catholic Church more attractive to Prostestants by making the Mass more like their services. From elements more hostile to Vatican II or the N.O. Mass, you’ll hear all stripes of conspiracy theories involving the Protestants, Freemasons, Cardinal Buigini (sp.?), and/or anyone/everyone they dislike to some degree.
