Is anyone else into this radio program? I used to dismiss it as just so much pseudo-intellectual navel gazing but now that I’ve actually sat through a couple of episodes, I find myself addicted to its informality and it’s vaguely science-related content. I’ve even subscribed to it as a podcast. If you listen to it with earphones on you can appreciate the odd electronic sounds that host Jad Abumrad, who has a background in composing music, uses to punctuate moments of interest in the show.

I’ve enjoyed some episodes, like the one about parasites, but sometimes I find it tedious. Which is weird because I’m a science geek.

For that style of radio program I much prefer “This American Life”.

“This American Life” is good too but more current events-oriented whereas “Radiolab” is more science-oriented. There’s some kind of kinship between the two shows, definitely. Incidentally, Jad Abumrad was awarded a MacArthur fellowship in 2011.
