What are some other Scriptural examples in the NT of regulations or ritual forms followed by Church? The idea here is to collect a sample in response to those who argue the Catholic Church is all about ritual and rules instead of a “relationship,” when in reality, the NT shows that to be a false dichotomy.

I can think of:
  • Women head covering
  • Women teachers
  • Men no-head covering
  • Bread and wine as the matter used (i.e. “whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup…”)
  • Oil used for the sick
What else? Things that would relate to current canon law (as opposed to faith or moral teaching).

In Revelation are the vestments, smells and bells disliked by fundamentalists.

What about laying of hands for ordinaton/cofirmation, and incense symbolizing our prayers going up to God?

perhaps the idea of blessed relics?

Acts 19:11-12
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: 12So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them

I thought of this one too except that the Church doesn’t do this anymore. I know of one Protestant church that does this sometimes when a minister is not able to visit a sick person.
