Does Cardinal Adam Maida have anything to say about these ladies freep.com/news/religion/sisters7e_20040907.htm ? I would personal hope he would disapprove of their donation to Emily’s List. But of course the paper consults a good-ole liberal Jesuit(Fr. Thomas Reese, anyone heard of him?) spinmeister to back the sister’s decision.

Catholic radio discussed this incident. A caller was crying as he related about this incident to the apologist. Hope a lot of people were listening. It was said that the church is always holy, but this does not necessarily mean that all the members are holy. That’s an understatement. We are called to object in a loving Christian Way.

What order of nuns is involved in this matter?

how sad! The rectress of my dorm at Notre Dame was an IHM, and while she didn’t give the impression of being terribly orthodox, she was solidly pro-life. What’s happening in Detroit is an outrage!

I’m sorry, this just isn’t an outrage. The outrage is that Teddy Kennedy gets to have public appearances with the Archbishop of Boston the day after voting for partial birth abortions. The outrage is that Catholic clergy embraces liberal, pro-choice Democrats time and time and time again. The Archbishop of Chicago openly endorses pro-abortion candidates. John Kerry makes public statements on Saturday endorsing abortion as a “right” and our clergy gives him the Eucharist on Sunday with cameras filming the event.

I’m not as worried about an order of nuns giving $200 to Emily’s list. I’m much more scandalized that our clergy and episcopate allows pro-abortion politicians to call themselves Catholic, receive the Eucharist and be filmed with the cardinals and bishops as “friends”. THAT’S the ultimate Catholic hypocrisy.

Agree whole heartedly! The issue of these nuns giving $200 to a pro-abortion group is but a small symptom of a much broader problem in the Church. This will get your blood boiling too freep.com/news/religion/abort7e_20040907.htm :banghead: :nope:

The very sad thing about these two articles from the *Free Press * is that they were written by someone who grew up with me and went to the same Catholic parish. She also wrote almost gleefully about the priest scandals a couple of years ago.

Notice that both articles have the liberal Fr. Thomas Reese misquoting Cardinal Ratzinger (rather, taking a quote out of context).

Amen to that. We should never confuse individual Catholics–sinners all–with the institutional Catholic Church founded by Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit.

They are both hypocritical and scandalous.

The whole thing stinks. Emily’s list is a pro-abortion organization. All Abortions- All the time. No laws against any abortions whatsoever. Just another way to make Catholics look bad. Really wish they would think about the fallout before making such wrong and public decisions.
