Dear friends,

I don’t know how many of you have had the opportunity to watch the Rosary being meditated at EWTN every day, especially at six, pacific time.

My wife and I pray the Rosary with them and we can’t believe the deep happiness and spirituality reflected in the faces of those nuns. Is it “us” perceiving this, or is this something most or all of you have witnessed also?

Antonio 🙂

Antonio:

I am familiar with the Rosary with Mother Angelica and the Nuns as well. Occassionally, I too will pray the rosary with them.

Your observation of the piety of the Nuns is true for sure. These women are very holy in their prayer. I believe they literally live the rosary in their hearts!

In fact I am hoping to be making another trip to Hanceville, AL in the next couple of weeks. My mom would like to see the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament and also I am planning on taking her to EWTN as well. I don’t know if you have ever had the opportunity to visit the Shrine and the Monastery but if not–it is definitely worth the trip. I can tell you that on each of the few occassions that I have had to make the trip to the Shrine I am taken by the overwhelming spirituality that comes over a person as soon as you enter the property! It is awesome! If you get the chance try and make the trip if you haven’t already done so.

God Bless!

My mother prays the rosary with them every day, and I’ve seen it when I’ve been at her house. I do agree with you, and believe that the sisters are deeply spiritual and their devotion does show in their faces. However, weak mortal that I am, I can’t pray along with them because I find it extremely distracting to pray the rosary aloud with a group. No matter who they are, they always sound very sing-song or rote & repetitious to me - but again, that’s a purely personal reaction.

it’s great… i just wish she would pick up the pace… 😃

you see the smiley face right? 👍

…boy i bet that cost me in reputation points…

I would recommend you be silent and focus on the meditation and let all the out loud prayers be in the background.

I speak from experience. During most public rosarys and stations of the cross I am too deeply moved inside by the meditations to speak and doing so detracts me from the overall prayer. So like Martha of the Mary & Martha story in the bible, I sit at the feet Jesus meditating on the mysteries (or stations) while letting the “Mary’s” say the words out loud.

I’ve never been there but I presume it would be quite a spiritual experience to be there.

If by “she” you meant Mother Angelica, she can’t pick up the pace. She is sick and can barely pray the Rosary, her last public function at EWTN. She no longer teaches as she used to do.

As for losing reputation points, I can only tell you you probably added three more years in Purgatory for your remarks.🙂 .

I love praying the rosary with Mother and the sisters, it usually gives me a profound sense of peace when I hear them! I like the slower pace, its easier for me to visualize the mysteries when its slower, I go even slower by myself. I can understand why some would like it said faster, its what they are comfortable with. I don’t think Mother goes slow just because of her illness, I think this is the pace God wants her to say it at.

It’s just a bike-ride for me, about 20 miles there, 20 back 😛 I do have to remember to take some long britches, walking shoes, and a quieter shirt, tho. Only problem–they’ve just chip-sealed the last 3 miles of road, and chip-seal is not fun on a road bike.

Seriously, being this close to the Shrine has been a major influence in my decision to swim the Tiber, as well as in my wife’s decision to revert to Catholicism. We go fairly frequently; it’s an awesome place to visit.
