Nuns & The Pill to Prevent Cancer?

As far as I know, this is a non-issue especially if it is not for contraceptive purposes (it shouldn’t be anyways for nuns). In general, can women use birth control pills for non-contraceptive purposes w/o going against Church teaching?

Are they allowed to take these pills for health purposes?

The question made me laugh. Most nuns, esp. thoses in habits, would be mortified if they had to go into a drug store and buy contraceptive pills. Corrrect me if I am wrong!

The problem with the presentation this woman hopes to make is that “nuns would benefit from a “contraceptive” pill”…

She needs to indicate rather WOMEN sometimes/often benefit from HORMONE THERAPY.

Ummmm… DUH!

Not all hormone therapy comes in a round handy pac for your purse.

In principle, yes, this would be completely allowed. If they’re not functioning as contraceptives, then they’re just a form hormone therapy.

In practice, this would be profoundly stupid. The Pill itself is a carcinogen. Bombing your reproductive system with megatons of artificial hormones is considerably more dangerous than simply not using your reproductive system. That Time refrains from mentioning any of this is fairly astonishing.
