I would like to get married in the Church with a Catholic Nuptial Mass. The person that I would like to be my Matron of honor is a baptized Catholic, but she has fallen away from the Church and is no longer a practicing Catholic. I know she wouldn’t be able to sign the certificate as a witness, but can she still be my Matron of honor in a Nuptial Mass?

I don’t have an answer for you but you might be more likely to get an answer if you post this in the Liturgy and Sacraments forum.

My brother had a Nuptial Mass for his wedding and his best man is Jewish. Hope this helps.

Your witnesses may be of any faith for your Catholic wedding. However, as a lapsed Catholic, if she wishes to return to the church, she only would need to go to confession to get back into the church. If she elects not to do that…then she should not come up to receive the Holy Eucharist because she is not in the state of grace.

Perhaps, your wedding will be a small seed to get her back into the church. God bless you on your upcoming nuptials.
