Nylon Rosaries

I have a question abou those nylon rosaries some people make themselves. I was at Pauline Books and Media yesterday and saw one with one decade. A man I sit near at Mass also has one.

How do you pray them? Are they meant to say one decade? Say any number of decades? If you pray the whole rosary how do you keep track of how many decades you’ve said?

If you use a one decade rosary, then you have to mentally keep the tabulation of which mysteries you have prayed and meditated on.

I primarily use my one decade rosary as I am walking from one place to another and have the chance to get a decade in. Depending on the day, I can pray 20 decades that way. But I do have to make the effort to be conscious of which mysteries I have prayed and which mysteries remain for me to pray.

(And yes, there are times when I have to make an allowance if I became distracted and cannot remember for sure if I said one of the decades. If I am not sure, I will either say it or go on to the next decade. We can only do our best in that circumstance, not the impossible.)

One decade of the rosary, or perhaps a Chaplet.

They are compact and convenient, less conspicuous if you like privacy.

Certainly. One decade is better than none.

Of course. We encouraged the youngest children to pray a decade a day in Catholic school. By Friday, they have prayed a whole rosary, and soon, they pray it in its entirety on their own.

Good because sometimes I get to Mass early to pray and occasionally there will be singers. I can’t concentrate and about one decade is all I can manage.

I have a couple rosary bracelets but only use them as jewelry. I pray with my full rosary.
