With the decline of Monasticism at least in the Western world I’ve often wondered what is to become of the Western Church? Here is a refreshing article about some new life in the monastic ideal.

I know these things go in cycles but these protestant groups seem to be taking a page out of a book we seem to be not as clear about as we used to be. Is there some evidence that friars and monks are coming back among Catholics and Orthodox? Are these “new monks” going to become a bridge to Catholicism and Orthodoxy in your opinion? After many years of inventing “singles ministries” that tend to pandor to narcissism will these movements help us all to be enriched as Christians?
