I know what you mean. That awful moment when a disturbing thought hits you and throws you for a loop.

“Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect”. this is coming to mean that God shows us through Jesus how to be perfect. But it is gradual, and it means for us to ask for forgiveness and mercy. Part of the process. What do you think?

Yep. And I’ve been having a really rough time, for the last three or so months.

I just heard back from my doctor and he’s going to try me on Prozac. I hope it gives me some relief.

With prozac, there is a long wait from your first dose and when it kicks in. 4 to 6 weeks. But when it starts to work you do feel less anxious. The bad thoughts are easier to handle.

One thing that’s helpful to me is instead of digging and digging for all the sins committed that day, will confess them at night saying the most important ways I’ve offended God and others, and finish with, " and all my other sins".

One of my former psychiatrists said that after you take your first dose, psychologically you feel better, because “you’re doing something about it”- in this case, the OCD.

I agree with him. I’ve felt better after taking one dose of medication, too.

Just making a move to set things right is better than being paralyzed by fear and doubt. At least you feel you made some sort of progress.

This happened after being prescribed a depression medicine- Paxil. As you may know, it’s used for OCD as well. And it worked-for both!

do you think that after being off a medicine for awhile, going back on it could also help. Maybe after a year or 2? It probably has left the system by then, and could possibly be a help again. Maybe some prescribers do this?

Yeah, it’s sort of contradictory. In trying to be close to God, you’re doing something “abhorrent”. Often times frustration comes in, and your not even sure that you’re pleasing God at all.

I don’t know, but that would make sense.

And that’s the thing. All the behaviors are very “ridiculous”. I wouldn’t think of going back to weighing food; or consolidating medicine bottles!
