Hi guys,
This post is aimed at those who suffer from OCD/scrupolosity.
I just want to check if anyone else has experienced this and how they handle it.
I have had Cognative behavioral therapy and it has been explained to me that sometimes we get “worries” or thoughts that are meaningless and it is best to ignore them rather than to engage with them. Often I will spend literally hours ruminating over a worry, solve it and find that about an hour later I am back to square one and I have to try to “solve” the problem again.
This happens to me in regard to things that I think might be mortal sins. I manage to prove to myself that are not mortal sins but shortly afterwards, I have to prove the whole scenario all over again.
While I am dealing with a priest on these issues, I don’t think that anyone other than someone who has suffered from OCD or anxiety will be able to understand this.
Has anyone experienced this?
