Dear Brothers and Sisters,

For centuries today’s Feast was called : “Our Lady of Victory” celebrating the victory of the Christian fleet over the Turkis in 1571. The Pope encouraged Christians to pray the Rosary and Victory came! The name of the feast was changed by several popes, but always with the intention of giving thanks for this victory.

At Fatima in 1917 Mary revealed herself as the “Lady of the Rosary”. Fatima was also the name of the youngest daughter of the prophet Mohammed, founder of Islam (Portugal and Spain were occupied by Muslims for centuries). Mary is also the only woman named in the Quran, which describes her as being chosen above all other women. This indicates the possibility of a connection between Islam, Mary, and the Rosary.

Mary told the children: “Pray the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary in order to obtain peace for the world…because only she can help you.” We hear --still today – calls from God through Mary to pray this powerful prayer.

We need, however to pray with attention and devotion. The Mysteries in each decade need to be pondered. Events in the lives of Jesus and Mary continue our learning from the Holy Spirit, the fullness of Truth He was sent to bring the Church.

Listening to “True Devotion” Chapter 1 on “The Necessity of Devotion to Mary”. I wonder, how many hear God’s Truth? We fight many battles but let us be reminded of God’s intention from the beginning for Mary to defeat satan:
  1. God has established only one enmity - but it is an irreconcilable one - which will last and even go on increasing to the end of time. That enmity is between Mary, his worthy Mother, and the devil, between the children and the servants of the Blessed Virgin and the children and followers of Lucifer.
Thus the most fearful enemy that God has set up against the devil is Mary, his holy Mother. From the time of the earthly paradise, although she existed then only in his mind, he gave her such a hatred for his accursed enemy, such ingenuity in exposing the wickedness of the ancient serpent and such power to defeat, overthrow and crush this proud rebel, that Satan fears her not only more than angels and men but in a certain sense more than God himself. This does not mean that the anger, hatred and power of God are not infinitely greater than the Blessed Virgin’s, since her attributes are limited. It simply means that Satan, being so proud, suffers infinitely more in being vanquished and punished by a lowly and humble servant of God, for her humility humiliates him more than the power of God. Moreover, God has given Mary such great power over the evil spirits that, as they have often been forced unwillingly to admit through the lips of possessed persons, they fear one of her pleadings for a soul more than the prayers of all the saints, and one of her threats more than all their other torments.
Our Lady of Victory, Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us and with us!

Dear BartholmewB, Gio G12, Magenya, Maximian, Victoria333, and Tis_Bearself,

Thank you all so very much for loving Jesus through Mary and for your “hearts” letting us all know that you liked what was written to honor Those Two Hearts on the Feast of Our Lady, yesterday.

Sorry I’m late with this “thank you” reply but yesterday turned out to be far more involved with some unexpected difficulties. These are definitely difficult times for all of us who continue seeking the Lord through Mary, as the world grows “darker” in the hearts of many.

Nevertheless we know God remains faithful as does our Blessed Mother and so we continue to Listen to His Word to us in Scripture, Tradition and the Official Magisterium of the Church – praying to the Holy Spirit to guide us as Jesus promised in John 16:13, and continuing to listen also to the Wisdom He has given to His saints such as St. Louis de Montfort. Today we continue to listen, by God’s Grace from “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin.”

Only the Rosary can change the course of History (II)

Through the Rosary, we can hope to shatter the great religious indifference of today’s world, a world without hope.

Through the Rosary, we can obtain everything. The Rosary can be compared to a long chain that links earth to Heaven. We hold on to one end while the other is in the hands of the Blessed Virgin.

The Rosary is very pleasing to God. That is why the Church invites us to recite it every day during this month of October, before Jesus truly present and exposed on the altar or hidden in the tabernacle.

“Slowly recited and meditated during family prayer time, as a group, or alone, the Rosary will gradually put in your hearts the same feelings that Jesus and His Mother had in their own Hearts, as you immerse yourself in the key events of the world’s salvation.” (Pope Saint John Paul II, homily, May 6, 1980)

We could also consider starting the practice of the first Saturday devotion requested by Our Lady in Fatima. During each of her six apparitions at Fatima, Our Lady revealed to us that the Rosary, far from being a minor or optional devotion, is the most ordinary condition for infallibly obtaining all the graces we ask of her. For indeed, she is the Mediatrix of all graces, by the will of her Son.

Mary wants to bestow on our souls, families, homelands, and the world, this torrent of favors that she holds in her Heart, if only we would humbly pray and implore her through daily Rosaries.

Our decadent modern societies are undoubtedly the result of lack of prayer. It was in anticipation of this general disorientation that Our Lady so insistently asked for the recitation of the Rosary. And since the Rosary is, after the Holy Mass, the most apt prayer for preserving faith in souls, the devil is strongly fighting it in any way he can.

The Rosary is the most powerful weapon for defending ourselves on the battlefield . (Letter from Sister Lucia of Fatima to a priest, November 26, 1970)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Thanks so much, hazcompat, for posting this beautiful picture of Our Lady of Fatima’s statue, and the letter of Sister Lucia to a priest.

Sorry to be so late with this “thank-you” to your reply, but I am truly grateful that you continue to honor Jesus through Mary, for it seems to me Our Mother is so neglected by so many. Jesus gave her to us all as Mother, but how few, it seems, have taken her into their homes and into their lives as John the disciple did when he heard Jesus words to him (and to all of us):
Behold your Mother (Jn 19: 27)
