Is there any rules when it comes to having a Mass said for someone? Do you have to say exactly what it’s for? Can you just say for "special intentions? Things like this, Thanks.
 
You can have a Mass offered for an unspecified special intention. This is done quite often.
 
If I wanted a mass said for a certain intention, what is the general procedure to take?

Contact your parish office and let them know you want a Mass intention. They’ll let you know how to proceed.
