Offering Mass in memory of someone

I had read that Catholics can offer Mass in someone’s memory. Is there a process to this? Can someone pray silently to have the Mass offered in someone’s memory even if it’s not publicly declared? Lastly, is Mass where you pray for the souls in purgatory?

You can offer a Mass for anyone living or dead, Catholic or non-Catholic.

You can pray for the souls in Purgatory anywhere anytime.

Yes you can do so, go to your parish priest office and ask him, it is as simple as that.

Also you can pray for YOUR dearly departed every time during mass when the priest does

g) The intercessions, by which expression is given to the fact that the Eucharist is celebrated in communion with the whole Church, of both heaven and of earth, and that the oblation is made for her and for all her members, living and dead, who are called to participate in the redemption and salvation purchased by the Body and Blood of Christ.

Just ask the priest to do it for you I know that he will be very willing to do this. It may be the process at many parishes that there is a schedule of offered masses, I think there is a small fee or something but is probably to print holy cards or for the standard upkeep of the mass. Something along those lines, you aren’t paying for the offering rather you are paying for basic upkeep. (I may be wrong on this)
