Does anyone know how to figure out what is the official Miraculous Medal image/design? I was looking at them in a Catholic store a few days ago and I was surprised to see several different versions of the medal that were all called the Miraculous Medal.

Some had stars around Mary’s head…some had a halo. There was also different poses of Mary…one looks straight ahead another her head is turned to the side. Some her arms were stretched out wider than in others. I was surprised they weren’t all made from a standard image.

Here are some examples…notice how none of them are the same:

Mine is different from all three of your examples!! I never noticed the differences until I saw your post.

All of those you showed are legitimate Miraculous Medals. There is no one single way the Blessed Mother must be represented on the medal.

You can read descriptions of what was revealed to St. Catherine Laboure. I think the medal just needs to show Our Lady of Grace, have the year (1830), and the inscription, “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” It can be written in any language.

By the way, I have been to the chapel in Paris where the apparitions happened. It’s amazing… and there you can see St. Catherine’s incorrupt body.

The person may also want to search and find the website for the shrine you mention…where it took place.

Thanks everyone…appreciate the posts and advice.

That would sure be an interesting site to see. I imagine it would be a little surreal to see the incorrupt body of St. Catherine…to know that she is a living Saint now in heaven.
