Thank you, especially for the prayers. At least you are talking about it!!! I’m still praying for you…
I know that it’s not easy no matter what the out come is…
Today when four of the younger children and I went outside, we found a dead bird laying in the grass. All were concerned for the bird, and one child was in tears over this unknown bird’s death. We buried the bird. This presented a wonderful opportunity to talk about the death of animals and our responsibility to care for the creatures of the earth. As it fit perfectly, we discussed the Bible verse about “not a bird falls to the ground that the Father doesn’t know” and that we are worth more that birds to God. (Matt 10:29-31) We discussed the difference between humans and animals. I brought up our aging dog and our responsibility to care for the dog, but that protecting humans matter more. We talked about the fact that our dog would probably die sometime soon as its getting old. (The sensitive, animal-loving child who cried over the death of the bird asked it we’d get a new puppy. Oh, hubby’s gonna have a very hard time maintaining his position about “no new pet”
Hubby and I decided we needed more time to prepare the children. God–who knew about this bird dropping from the sky and landing in our yard :angel1: --prepares our family for our dog’s eventual death. Thank you so much to everyone here for helping me sort through this.
