Hi, all.
Didn’t know whether to post this here or over at Traditional Catholicism, but here it goes.
I recently purchased two missals at a used bookstore. I’m wondering if they can still be used at Mass.
The first one is the Cathedral Daily Missal, “The Roman Missal adapted to everyday life…in conformity with the new Decree on the Rubrics of the Missal and the Ordinationes ad Librorum Liturgicorum Editores, issued by the Sacred Congregation of Rites, January 1, 1961”.
Published in 1961. It’s side-by-each Latin and English, looks like the EF (as I’ve seen it described). But it also looks very “V-II”: the illustrations of priestly garb show, for example, a chasuble that’s plain red, with a black Greek-key design running down the front, with two plain crosses in black to either side.
The second is a Saint Joseph Continuous Sunday Missal. Published 1957. All in English (!). Since this was published before Bl. JXXIII became Pope, how come it’s not Latin/English?
Anyway, are these Missals useful (Mass-wise)? Or should I just keep them as historical documents-cum-prayerbooks?
Thanks, all.
