During the Easter Vigil, new oils are brought into the Church. What happens to the previous year’s oil?

They are to be burned. We do that with the new fire that is blessed at the start of the Easter Vigil celebration.

…boy, depending upon how large the church is, that has to be one “H” of a fire!
“H” (holy)…now, what did you think i meant? 👍

Some of ours is burnt in the New Fire and the rest is taken out and buried…This is what Fr told me

The oil can also be burned in the Sanctuary Lamp if you happen to have one that uses oil

We used to burn them in the Easter Vigil. However, if you put them on easy lighting, or self lighting or whatever, charcoal they plug the pores and the charcoal won’t light. I think we pour them out in a secluded area now.
