Old sin of theft

If you confess to stealing something, say, a relatively small amount of money, or if your supervisor allows you to stay home while being paid by the company for money he owed you personally, and your confessor absolves you but doesn’t mention restitution, are you still required to pay the money back? The companies in question were both very large corporations or municipal entities, both occurring 35 to 50 years ago.

In my opinion… yes.

I had a tenant apologize to me for monies never paid. She had found God but never offered restitution. I didn’t want it and was happy she was moving in the right direction but wondered how sincere she was without at least offering.
Just my opinion.

Maybe they should, or maybe that individual should donate that same amount of money to a charity, or if they for whatever reason can’t afford to donate, then maybe they could volunteer the time skipped at a homeless shelter or something.
