Does anyone know where I can buy a timeline of the Old Testament or a book that has a basic history of the Old Testament?

I got my timeline about a year ago through EWTN’s religous catalog (the same item as what you linked to). Then I downloaded from EWTN’s site the entire “Our Father’s Plan” series by Jeff Cavins and Scott Hahn. There is about 13 one-hour talks that follow the Jeff Cavins timeline.

I converted the real audio files to wav format (using a real to wav converter) and burned them to audio CDs so I can listen to them in the car.

The timeline is pretty cool, showing “Jesus’ Bloodline” and the different periods of the bible timeline. It has been a real asset to me to understand the timeline of the bible, which in turn, aids in understanding how the other books fit in as well.

Jeff’s materials are great! I’ve used them as the basis for putting together a chronological arrangement of Scripture in 365 daily readings:

Addmittedly, a blog is not the ideal fromat for this, since you have to start at the bottom, and read up.

You will find both in John Bright’s “A History of Israel”. The chronology is not confined to Israel or the OT - it relates OT events to events in the Ancient Near East generally

At least the flood can be accurately dated to 7000 years if we concur with the findings of National Geographic. A research ship was sent out to study the Black Sea, and evidence showed the Sea was much smaller, lower and fresh water at that time. It is believed the Bosphourus(sp?) land bridge was breached and a flood of Mediteranean salt water filled the basin, and the filling took approximately the same time mentioned in the flood. Before the breach there is evidence there was a water fall larger than Niagra which gradually became larger, and along the old shoreline now underwater, one can see evidence of human habitation.

Anyway, food for thought.
