My friend brought me a blessed rosary made from olive wood, from her recent trip to the Holy Land. Why are olive wood beads so important?

I have one of those also that I believe a Priest friend gave me and also some to my family. Not sure on the significance but it’s a very holy thing, especially from the Holy Land

They’re pretty and smell really nice, but I don’t think they have any extra “holiness”, it’s just special because it came from the land where Jesus lived.

I just read that the Garden Of Gethemane means Garden of Olives, and that’s where Jesus prayed. I think that’s their significance.
Mine also has some dirt in it from Jerusalem.

Somebody I know once visited Rome and gave me a rose scented rosary from there but the scent was so powerful and overwhelming, I gave it away.

They are “important” in that they are made of olive wood, which calls to mind the holy lands, and the garden of Gethsemane (which is an Olive Grove), and the purchase of them helps support Christians in Jerusalem, etc. So, they aren’t special in and of themselves, by virtue of being made of olive wood, but they can be special to us for what they bring to mind.

Olive oil is the matter used for Anointing of the Sick and Confirmation. It has roots going back to the OT as a tree associated with healing and restoration, so it remains symbolic today.

An olive wood sacramental isn’t in itself any better than another sacramental or no sacramental at all, since the intention of the heart is what matters. But, people enjoy following certain customs as a way to be connected with the past and their ancestors in the faith of the past.

They are not important. It is irrelevant what wood or other material is used to make Rosary beads.
Placing importance on the material touches on superstition, in my opinion.

Jerusalam
There is a company named Jerusalam who are producing religious items probably fake/ phony ones ,this is not to be mistaken for brought from the Holy Land, Jerusalam which is genuine, and does have the name Jerusalam behind the cross

The Eastern Orthodox has an interesting story i read some where ,it is said Jesus cross is made from the Olive Tree, and probably the Heavenly Father had given a sapling or a branch from the Garden of Eden in paradise along with a vine plant and a few other seeds after the exile to the earth.

Wisdom 14:7 For blessed is the wood by which righteousness comes.

That’s really wonderful,It is quite significant the Jesus cross is made from the Olive Tree it is said.

Psalm 52:8 But I (Mary) am like a green olive tree in the house of God.I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.

Sirach 24:14 I (Mary)grew tall like a palm tree in En-gedi,and like rosebushes(Mary) in Jericho;
like a fair olive tree (Mary)in the field, and like a plane tree beside water I grew tall.

Rosary comes from the word Rose

Under good conditions, olive trees can live for more than 2000 years. There is one in Greece that was studied scientifically and found to be 2400 years old. Many trees that look very old are not as old as they appear, however, and studies have found that the age of many old trees is overestimated. There are quite a few trees that are clained by villagers to be 4000 years old but as far as I know, no such claim has ever been substantiated, But nevertheless, it is entirely possible that there are trees still living today in the Holy Land that were already around when Jesus was on earth and in whose proximity Jesus walked.
