Must prayers to Our Lady and the saints be vocal or have they been granted the ability to “hear” our silent prayers? I usually pray silently (even in private), as I developed this habit at a young age. I only recently learned of the importance of vocal prayer, especially with regard to the Rosary. I am concerned, however, about the many prayes I have said in silence over the years.

It is God that permits the saints to hear our prayers, so however we make them, they can hear them, whether spoken, in writing, in thoughts, and in deeds.

I think vocal prayer is good because your Guardian Angel cannot read your mind. You should ask for his help vocally.

Its recorded in the Bible that Mary has the ability to read the thoughts of hearts, and we also know that Saints have had this ability…so yes… they can “hear” our (silent prayers as well) 🙂
