majority of the OT are prophetic books most of them are very short also and split between major prophters (Jeremiah, Isaiah) and minor prophets. I have a few thoughts and questions regarding these books.
How was it like to be a prophet? Did these people literally hear voices in there head to go and do this? Or did God used visions and dreams to communicate to them? I think its the later because in alot of the prophetic books it starts saying like the word of the lord came upon Nahum… etc or in a vision. Isn’t Moses they only person/prophet who actually communicated with God?
Who are the authors of these books? Did the prophets themselves wrote down there oracles or there followers wrote the books down? I heard there maybe be more than 1 author for Isaiah.
Did these books came true? or written after the events and passing it of as a prophecy I know in jewish teaching they don’t see daniel as a prophet and most scholars tend to place the book at a later date. Most of the books condem a nation that was against Isreal during or around the exile and post exile.
