All Hollow Eve is coming. In that day, I plan to cosplay as someone in a horror slasher movie. I assume all of you know what is a horror slasher movie is: a movie which a man is brutally killed in a most grotesque way possible. One of many tools used in the murder or torture is bladed weapon, but stab weapons may be used as well. That movie also features someone come back from hell after killed, and that person will continue doing what that person’s want.

SPOILER: It is titled “The Passion of the Christ”!

My question is: Is cosplaying as Jesus without the intent to ridicule Him is a sin? What is the boundary of cosplay is a sin or not?

Also, who can guess the movie is without reading that spoiler? LoL

I have to be honest with you, that was not what I was expecting. I think that it’s actually a good way to evangelise, have something with Bible verses with you. Here in the American South, when people go trick-or-treating, a lot of times kids will get candy, but they’ll also get Bible verses.

Personally, I would find it in poor taste. It could be seen as a mockery even if you do not intend that way.

Maybe choose a saint who died in a brutal way? St Lawrence with arrows piercing his flesh? St John the Baptist with his head on a platter?

I would think dressing as Jesus for Halloween would only be seen as a mockery of him and would only bring joy to those who do so and upset those who actually follow him.
