Hello my friends, I am writing this post so as to engage opinion as to the most preferable form of government that allows for human flourishing. I have recently started a Masters in Public Policy and one of my modules is centered around political philosophy and the rule of law, so my interest was naturally peaked, given that a lot of the opinions mentioned in class generated a consensus, though not one in which I partook.
Reading the likes of Cicero and Aristotle, it is refreshing to see discussion of the value of different governmental systems and so it has naturally inclined me to seek the opinions of my Catholic brethren, my religious friends and irreligious colleagues on the site.
Feel free to discuss how the government should formulate concepts of liberty (whether it be negative [as either non-interference or non-domination] or positive liberty), the nature of it’s relation, or lack thereof, to ecclesiastical institutions such as the Church as well as other pressing issues that allow for proper governance.
I look forward to hearing your opinions.
