The custom of reserving the holy Eucharist in the sacrarium is so ancient, that even the age of the Council of Nicaea recognised that usage. Moreover, as to carrying the sacred Eucharist itself to the sick, and carefully reserving it for this purpose in churches, besides that it is exceedingly conformable to equity and reason, it is also found enjoined in numerous councils, and is a very ancient observance of the Catholic Church. Wherefore, this holy Synod ordains, that this salutary and necessary custom is to be by all means retained.

I don’t understand. Is there some controversy over this practice?

As the sacrarium in a church is the special sink used for disposing of the water used to wash the chalice. some of us are confused as to what word the OP meant to say.

The OP is a quote from session 13 of Trent.

Sacrarium can also mean sanctuary, or the room in the house where a shrine is. Modern usage limits it to a sink that empties directly into the ground, since Latin is a dead language and meanings never change.

I assumed the OP mistyped and meant tabernacle. But I don’t understand why it was posted. Yes, we reserve the Eucharist in the tabernacle and take it to the sick. And…?
