Hi! I’m new here and I was wondering what you guys think about Scientology. I personally think it’s okay for them to believe what they want to believe (live and let live, you know 🙂 ), but I am concerned about some of the abuse that goes on in the organization. There’s stories of forced abortions (catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=34810) and other major abuses.

Happily, I’ve recently discovered a petition to help the FBI investigate them! 😃 You just have to register here: wwws.whitehouse.gov/user/register and then sign the petition here: wh.gov/4Os

I apologize if this is too off-topic or if it’s been brought up already.

Sorry for the double post, but I just had a spiritual question. For the women who were forced into abortions by the organization, what’s the status of their souls? Do they still go to hell even though they were coerced into it? Do the people who pressured them into it also go to hell?

Feedback would be appreciated 🙂

L.Ron Hubbard started Scientology because he could. He bragged that he could start a religion and people would follow it.

It is a cult. Be very careful because they can sound oh so right.

Yeah, I know 🙂 Do you know what happens to the women’s souls, though? If they weren’t acting willingly in the abortions, do they still go to hell?

I have no idea what happens to anyone’s soul. We can only pray for the mercy of God.

My mother was involved in the science fiction community and growing up I heard stories. Many SF authors were friends with Hubbard and stated that he heavily plagiarized from a German writer in order to put together his cult.

In the end the lunatics took over the asylum and Ron Hubbard was not seen by any of his close friends for several years leading up to his death. At his death no one was allowed to see his body or have a funeral. The corner apparently ruled the death “suspicious” and Hubbard’s will was altered the day before the death.

I try to be tolerant and understanding of others’ experiences and beliefs. Scientology is one group I’ve researched and find it to not be so benevolent or innocuous. I’m also suspicous of an organization in which the knowledge given to the adherents and the “ranks” is contingent upon the money you fork over.

The many claims surrounding this group are enough to make me think they don’t have a pure agenda. I hate to say all this; I understand many folks (i.e. celebrities) have come out stating Scientology has been a great comfort and strength for them.

It’s not really the beliefs that people really have a problem with. It’s mainly the abuse within the organization, which is why I’m glad I found this petition to help make it safer for people who do believe in it 🙂 wh.gov/4Os

I think Scientology is a bunch of nonsense, just like christianity:thumbsup:

If someone were forced to have an abortion they won’t be held accountable for their sin, any more than a woman who is raped would be held accountable for having sex outside of marriage.

God knows if they were truly forced into having abortions - or if they desired that for themselves. Regardless, He is merciful and kind and can forgive ANY sin so long as someone is truly repentant. That also applies to those who coerced them into having one and even those who performed the abortions. We are all sinners in need of his forgiveness and grace.

Scientology…hands down the wackiest religion out there IMO.
