This is for our non-catholic Christian brothers and sisters. For those who believe in “once saved, always saved”, do you still ask for forgiveness although your beliefs are that you are already saved? This thought just popped into my brain and am curious about what yall believe. Thanks.

As a former once saved always saved evangelical, I will tell you that I did pray for forgiveness from time to time. It was taught in my church to do so, but it was more as a recommitment to the Christian walk, and a part of Sanctification, rather than Salvation.

BUt you wouldn’t have to do that technically right?

Correct.

They had this strange idea, that never made sense to be, that we should strive to be sanctified throughout this life, because it was the right thing to do. Sort of like you would have a safer and healthy life if you did. It certainly was not required for salvation. It was more like, my mom used to say, “you got another jewel in your heavenly crown”. Where that’s in the Bible who knows !🤷
